We have had another busy week here in school with assemblies delivered by our local charity, Mountbatten, various sporting fixtures, both home and away and also a meeting with various local professionals about some potential new ways of supporting our students. A team of our Year 9 pupils won an area STEM competition hosted by the University of Southampton and are now through to the national finals in Aberdeen in June.
Yesterday we held our 'Trial results day' for our Year 11 students. This is always an important event for them, as it gives them a little bit of the flavour of what it will feel like in August, the difference being that now they still have time to alter their result! We have Easter Revision sessions running in a variety of subjects over the two weeks of break, further details will be shared next week.
Next week we have our Easter Fayre at The Island VI Form on Thursday, 3 April between 3.15 and 5.00pm, raising money for our World Challenge Eswatini & Mozambique trip which is taking place in 2026.
We will be holding a Year 10 Parents' Evening here in school on Wednesday, 23 April, the first week back after the Easter break. The booking system is open for this, so if you have not yet booked your appointment please do via the Arbor App. This evening will be important as it will indicate the progress that your child is currently making, and whether there are any particular areas which could help improve their outcomes. Developing new ways of working and new habits can often accelerate progress.
As a reminder, next Friday, 4 April, students will be finishing at 12.35pm. For any students entitled to Free School Meals, there will be a meal deal available from the canteen during the morning break.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and, of course, don't forget that the clocks 'spring' forward.
