Head of School’s Blog – 14 June 2024

We are now at the end of our second week back and June seems to be flying by already.

Year 11 completed their last major exams today, with a couple of smaller exams to take place next week. We had Portsmouth university come in to work with our Year 10 students on Tuesday which was an excellent opportunity for them to get a taste of a higher education institution. Finally, yesterday we had a group of students travel to Southampton to watch Wicked and some our Year 9 students travelled to The Island VI Form to have some training for the Duke of Edinburgh Expedition.

I have had some questions about the festival and it’s impact on the school this week. Can I reassure everyone that there are very secure processes in place to keep students safe. On Friday 21 June, students will be accessing their learning remotely via google classroom due to the fact members of the public will be entering the festival site by the leisure centre. We are able to open on Monday 24 June because that entrance is then closed and festival goers leave via the camping entrance which is nearer the racecourse roundabout along Fairlee Road. Festival crew will be leaving via the Seaclose entrance. Communication has already taken place about bus routes whilst the one way system is in place on Fairlee Road.

I would like to finish off this week’s update by congratulating our Hot Chocolate Friday winners who gained their place for either 100% attendance in the previous week or are top achievement point holders for their year group. Well done to: Ben, Lauren, Lillie, Rylee, Ethan, Flynn, Chloe and Holly.

Have a lovely weekend.
