BAE Systems AI Roadshow

On Thursday, Years 7 and 8 welcomed the BAE Systems Roadshow in conjunction with the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. This year's roadshow explored the world of AI and digital information and how learning about these topics can feed into a variety of different engineering career pathways.
We met Lexi the COBOT (collaborative robot dog), who could sing, dance and also explain everything that was in front of them! The team explored how we use digital technology in the home and in everyday life and how using open questioning will give us the best possible results when using AI.
The team demonstrated how using AI can enable us to develop a hit music track using a range of criteria put into the computer and make an accompanying music video - the year 8 one was about eating cheese whilst riding a horse (you had to be there!), and used 2 different styles of music by just selecting random instruments.
Whilst it was a lot of fun, the key message was how to keep safe online and how not to be taken in by 'deep fakes'. If you are unsure about how genuine something is, then you need to speak to an adult rather than be drawn in.
