Isle of Wight Festival Performances

Students from Carisbrooke College, Medina College and The Island VI Form had the amazing opportunity of performing at the Isle of Wight Festival on Saturday 22 June. Our students have rehearsed endlessly and shown incredible effort and enthusiasm in putting these performances together and gathering the confidence required to perform on a stage in front of a field full of people cheering them on. Students performed on the Bull Stage in a very busy Kidzone, and had the unique opportunity to see first hand how stage managers and sound technicians operate.

Students from Year 10 at Medina College opened our set with a strong rendition of The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’, followed by two energetic performances from Carisbrooke College’s Year 10 music students with Rascal Flatts’ ‘Life is a Highway’ and ‘My Hero’ by the Foo Fighters. Next up was a tender solo cover of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ from another Year 10 student at Medina College.

Students from The Island VI Form closed our set with performances of Olly Murs’ ‘Somebody New’ and Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ – these particular Year 13 students have been performing at the IOW Festival with IWEF since they were in Year 7, so it was a very proud moment to see how far they’ve come in their musical adventures, supporting the younger students backstage and shining on stage as confident and accomplished musicians!

If you would like to get involved in future musical opportunities at Carisbrooke, Medina or The Island VI Form, please speak to your Music teacher – all welcome!
