Head of School's Blog - 13 September 2024
Wow, what an incredible full second week of term this has been! As we embed the Medina Way of Ready, Respect and Safe, I have been so impressed with how the vast majority of students have not only embraced this but are thriving under the positive learning culture we are instilling in them.
The pride that students have had in their uniform has been impressive so thank you so much for ensuring they are turned out respectfully and ready to learn. It is really appreciated. Can I just remind the very few remaining students who have not got full uniform, that this needs to be sorted out by 30 September.
I am always so proud of our students and love being able to demonstrate to our community what fantastic ambassadors they can be. Therefore, it has been lovely to take students out into primary schools this week to meet Year 6 students and for them to share their experience of our school. They have been incredibly brave talking to groups of 60 students. I look forward to further visits prior to our Open Evening on Thursday 26 September, 5-8pm.
In this first week and a half, attendance has been much better than last year with attendance of 91.6%. However, we can still do better. Please remember attendance of less than 95% can make a whole grade difference by the time a student leaves at the end of Year 11. Every week, every day and every lesson counts in allowing a student to be the best version of themselves and unleashing their full potential.
Thank you to all who attended Year 11 Parents' Evening. We had an attendance of 72% - we are striving for that to be 100% so please, where possible, attend these evenings so we can work with you to support your child in the best possible way. Year 7 Tutor Evening is on Tuesday 1 October. Please do contact us if you are having any difficulties with booking appointments.
Finally, please be aware that we have the school photographers coming in on Monday morning to take photographs of Year 7 and Year 11. Details about purchasing these photos will be shared with parents next week.
Have a lovely weekend!
