Headteacher's Blog - 7 February 2025

The start of February has seen a flurry of activities at Medina College. On Monday, Years 9 and 10 were taken through their paces with the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme. The sessions were fun packed, competitive, with a wonderful engaging atmosphere. It was great for me to see so many of our pupils engaging with our visitor Dom Burke, who was very impressed with our students. Read more about the sessions here: Maths Support Sessions
A group of Year 8 pupils visited the University of Portsmouth this week and were involved in a number of activities to raise their aspirations. You can also read more about this here: University of Portsmouth Taster Day
As part of Children's Mental Health Week we have had informative assemblies to provide students with lots of ideas on how to improve their well-being.
On Wednesday, Year 10 and 11 musicians took part in an event that brought the music industry to life, showing them the various routes open to them. Thank you to the Music Hub for providing this session as part of the Creative Partnerships Week.
Today we all took part in an Island-wide event supporting Arlo Lambie, on 'Wear what makes you happy' mufti day. It is great how a community coming together can make a difference to the lives of others around us. All of the donations made on Arbor will be forwarded to Arlo's fundraising next week - the total currently stands at £769.86 and is still rising! If you haven't yet donated, you can still do so on Arbor or directly on the Just Giving page.
Next week we have a staff development day on Monday and the school is closed to students.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
