Headteacher's Blog - 14 February 2025

My first half term at the school has been a time when I have started to settle into the hustle and bustle of life at Medina College and the Island VI Form. I have found time to meet lots of pupils, parents and staff over the past six weeks, giving me an insight into the uniqueness of the people and the place. There is so much going on here that needs to be celebrated. From the pupils' achievements to the many events the school runs. I have been pleased to work with many colleagues here and at the trust who are keen to make improvements to the education that we offer.
We finished the half term with a visit from the apprenticeship bus for our year 10 pupils showcasing the various options that are available in the future. There was a busy week of sporting events with indoor cricket and athletics competitions for our teams.
We return with a set of mock examinations for Year 11. This is followed by the Year 9 Options Evening in early March where I look forward to meeting more parents.
I hope you have an opportunity to have a relaxing break with your youngsters in the coming week.
